All aspects of our school life are immersed in the discipleship of Jesus. Our Mission Statement expresses how we strive to live by our motto, Alive in Christ.
Mission Statement
Inspired by our motto “Alive in Christ”, the community of St Brendan’s Catholic School strives to encourage and support the uniqueness of each person.
We Will:
- Educate the whole person – spiritually, academically, physically, emotionally and socially in a safe and caring environment.
- Value and Nurture a sense of worth and dignity in self, in others and in creation.
- Live our Faith through celebrating together and going forth as disciples of Jesus.
- Foster Community through developing positive relationships within the school, parish and wider community.
- Express Concern for Others by displaying generosity, tolerance and acting justly.
At St Brendan’s we celebrate our Liturgical and Spiritual life through formal and informal prayer at whole school, class and individual levels.
The School life is celebrated through Catholic prayer, liturgy and symbol. The way our community expresses its faith is demonstrated in the following:
- Praying our School Prayer each day at morning assemblies.
- Praying our Daily Examen in class.
- Masses or liturgies are celebrated on specific Feast Days.
- Grade Masses planned by students and staff are celebrated throughout the year.
- Opening and closing school year Masses are celebrated.
- Recognition of local and global issues are celebrated and acknowledged through prayer assemblies and liturgies.
- Each classroom has a sacred space or prayer table.
- Students participate in prayer and/or class based liturgies regularly.
- Children learn traditional Catholic prayers through the Religious Education modules taught in class and by participating in prayer within the classroom, at Mass and at assemblies.
- Children learn about the Mass through the Religious Education modules taught in class and by participating and taking on various roles during class and school Masses.
- Staff meetings always begin with a staff-led prayer. The beginning of each term is marked with a staff liturgy.
- Parent Spirituality Days are celebrated throughout the year.
School Prayer
Dear Lord, together we come to praise you for the natural beauty you surround us with,
The families we belong to and the happiness in our lives.
We pray that you will always keep us close to you each and every day,
As we grow in faith and knowledge. Help us to become
“Alive in Christ”,
Caring for others, doing our best, and spreading the Good News, just like St Brendan.
Bless us today with Your Spirit.
Amen
